Hello everyone, Michael here from
the Clearing team at the University of Greenwich. I am going to start this
Clearing diary entry with a quote from the late Steve Jobs:
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
The reason I have started with
this quote is to advise you that just because you may not have gotten the
grades you needed to get onto your chosen programme, it doesn’t mean that you
should just settle for anything that you may have the grades for. If it doesn’t
make you happy, and you don’t enjoy the subject, then it’s not for you. If the
programme you want to study is not available through clearing, or you don’t
meet the entry requirements, there are always alternate ways of getting into a
programme. Even if it means going back and resitting your A Levels; so what if
it takes an extra year to go to uni?
If you want to do great things,
and go onto something that you enjoy, you have to love what you do; starting
with what you study at university. Remember, you will be studying a degree for
3 years, and 3 years is a long time doing something that you don’t like!
So remember, even though it may
feel like going to university straight away is the most important thing right
now, your future is also just as important. Who knows, you may have done better
than you expected and had a change of heart. Even if you didn’t get what you
expected, our Clearing team will be happy to advise you with an alternate
solution.
What have you got to lose? Call
our Clearing Hotline on 020 8331 9000, or visit us online to chat to an
advisor, where someone will be available to assist. Don’t forget to check back
daily with updates from other members of the clearing team.
Good luck everyone!
Michael
